Co-Owner-Jeff Smith

Number of Tornadoes Seen: 35

Jeff Smith is co-owner of Extreme Chase Tours and a 15 year veteran stormchaser. Jeff brings this 15 plus years of storm spotting and storm chasing experience to the team in order to help provide you the best storm chase tour experience on the planet. Jeff's obsession with weather began when he was five years old as an F-3 tornado was ravaging the East side of Tulsa OK in December, 1975. He and his family watched the tornado from his bedroom window tear up the city. Since that day, Jeff has had a passion for witnessing Mother Nature's fury wherever it may take him. In elementary school, Jeff's teachers grew concerned because he was always drawing different tornadoes. Those stunts actually got his parents several phone calls from school...often resulting in a sore backside :) Jeff has seen many tornadoes. One of the most notable was on March 12, 2006 where he and chase partner TJ caught rare footage of the after dark F-3 Delaware Co. Oklahoma tornado. When not on tour Jeff takes on the duty of nowcaster. He has nowcasted for several well known chasers including co-owner Lanny Dean. Jeff's radar interpretation skills are impeccable and he can get you to the storm of the day!
Jeff is a devout Christian. Without being overbearing he shares God's love with those around him. He became a Christian a little more than 10 years ago and has been called to youth ministry. Currently he is the Children and Youth Director of New Life Baptist Church in Claremore, Oklahoma. He also heads up Mission of Compassion, a disaster relief ministry that helps those that have been affected by natural disasters. For more info please see:

Jill Gilardi-Lead Meteorologist

Number of Tornadoes Seen: 4

Jill Gilardi
is the Lead meteorologist for Extreme Chase Tours. She is originally from Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology in 2003 from Lyndon State College in Vermont. She started her television career in St. Joseph, Missouri in 2004 and has been working for KOLR10 & KSFX News in Springfield, Missouri since August of 2005. Jill is on the news, Saturday through Wednesday nights and visits schools to teach students about the weather at different times throughout the year. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and is currently studying to get her CBM and AMS Seal. Jill was recently nominated for an MBA (Missouri Broadcasters Association) award for best weathercast.
She has been warning the public about tornadoes for over six years now and decided that she wanted to see the power of a tornado with her own eyes back in 2008.  She went on her first storm chase on May 30th, 2008 in Waverly, Illinois and intercepted a supercell thunderstorm which produced a tornado about 100 yards away from her!  Ever since then, she’s been hooked on chasing and learning more about mesoscale meteorology.

Currently Jill chases  for KOLR10 & KSFX news in the Mobile Weather Lab which is a fully equipped chase vehicle whenever storms are threatening the Ozarks. The most exciting experience so far that she has had with Extreme Chase Tours was on May 19th, 2010, when she and Lead Guide, Chad Berryhill, took a guest on his first tornado tour and intercepted a massive supercell near Hennessey Oklahaoma that produced a very large tornado and many funnels.
Jill developed a passion for weather when she was 5 years old after Hurricane Gloria in 1985 moved up the coast and across Massachusetts.  Any chance she gets, she is jumping in a vehicle with a camera in hand, to capture the awesome beauty and power of nature all year round.  Jill brings years of forecasting and broadcasting experience to the Extreme Chase Tours team and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and excitement of weather with those that attend the tours.
